Tell Us About Your Aviation Journey:

How did you get into aviation, and what inspired you to become a pilot?

I started my journey back in 2004 when I was 16 years old. I accumulated 11.4 hours, but due to financial reasons, I couldn’t fly. I loved airplanes and was involved in civil air patrol in high school. I went to Embry-Riddle from 2008-2012 but didn’t fly. Commissioned in the Army as an officer and deployed twice. In November 2022, the aviation bug hit me again, and I started my training back up. I got my wings in February of 2024! My goal is to fly professionally, hopefully for my law enforcement agency.

Current Status

Private pilot - I’m working on my instrument rating while working full-time as a state trooper. I'm halfway through my instrument rating.

Career Highlights:
What have been your aviation career's standout moments or achievements so far?
To accomplish my goal of being a pilot and inspiring people to do the same. Most importantly inspiring my son.

Fun Aspects of Flying: What do you enjoy most about flying? Share your favorite moments or experiences in the air.

The controlled chaos when talking with controllers on a cross-country flight. That and descending to minimums on an instrument approach and then circle to land. My favorite thing to do is when a controller hands me off to give them a “SEE-YUH”

Don’t let people influence your go/no go decisions when it comes to weather. Stick to your personal minimums and don’t waiver from them. Always continue to prepare for an emergency.

Advice for Aspiring Pilots: What tips or advice would you give to someone just starting out in their flight training or aviation career?

My flight instructor told me this, and I’ll never forget it: A pilot is a pilot. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fighter pilot, an airline pilot, or a private pilot. Everyone still has to have the basic knowledge of flight and the capabilities and characteristics of how to fly. You never stop learning as a pilot. We all started somewhere.

Favorite Aviation Tips and Tricks: Do you have a favorite aviation hack or tip that improves your flying experience?

Kick your tires & light your fires, and go have fun! Be safe, most importantly. Talk with the old-timers and those who have lots of hours. You will learn a thing or two from them.

Aviation Organizations: Are you a member of any aviation organizations (e.g., Women in Aviation, Women in Corporate Aviation, NGPA, OBAP, PAPA)? If so, how have they supported your journey?
